Instructors
Alvina Kline, Artistic Director/Owner, is the Artistic Director and Owner of Encore Dance Center since 1985. She began dancing at the age of four at Francis Cole's School of Dance located in Westwood, N.J. At the age of twelve she auditioned and was accepted into the Cloister Ballet Company. She studied with Robert Christopher, Alexander Filapov, Robert Blankshire, Charles Kelly, Gus Giordano, Al Gilbert, Luigi and Frank Hatchett. She has also attended workshops with Mia Michaels, Shane Sparks, Tyce Dyrio, Laurie Ann Gibson, Chris Judd and many more. In 1981 she attended Kutztown University and was a member of their dance troupe. In 1984 she received her dance teaching certification through Dance Educators of America and Western Kentucky University and is continually furthering her dance education through seminars and teacher training programs. Alvina has also received her certification in Pre-school Creative Dance, Kindermusik and most recently Zumba.
When she moved to Pennsylvania in 1984 she was the Dance Director at the Ephrata and Manheim Township Recreation Centers. She taught for Sue's Studio and Rush's School of Dance in Quarryville and is the Regional Director for the Christopher Dance Teachers Seminars.
Alvina has created a dance studio geared towards performance not competition. It is a studio that not only develops a child's technique and knowledge but the love of this fabulous art form. It is a teacher's job to guide their students down the appropriate path - encourage not discourage. She has offered the opportunity for her students to experience and perform at Walt Disney World, Hershey Park, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, The Pulse at Broadway Dance Center and The Rockette Experience, as well as local benefits for Mom's House and Breast Cancer Awareness.
She is proud that many of her students have chosen dance as their career in performance or teaching. Most recently one of her students is performing the lead in “Mary Poppins” on Broadway!
Since her purchase of Encore (originally Sue's Studio) in 1985, she has developed a studio with a nurturing and positive atmosphere that helps to develop a technically stronger dancer with self-esteem and confidence. Her philosophy is that “each child is a gift and it is our job, as instructors, to develop, nurture and guide each child until they achieve their dreams.
