Dana Shelley was a former Encore student. Dana graduated with a dance degree from Goucher University and we are so excited to have such a multi-talented teacher on staff.

Dana Shelley began her training at Encore Dance Center at age four and continued her dance education at Goucher College, graduating in 2005. She earned a B.A. in Dance, concentration in Performance & Choreography, and a B.A. in Business Management, concentration in Arts Administration. Dana also studied dance in Brazil at the Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro, Universidad Angel Vianna, and UniverCidade.

She has danced with Goucher's Dancers In Action, The Crystal Coast Arts Project, and Inertia/New Breed Dance Company, and is currently dancing with Opus 1 Contemporary Dance out of Philadelphia. Dana also does guest appearances with Eclipse Dance Company and the Accompany Dancers, and has performed at venues such as the ArtsBank in Center City Philadelphia. She has performed the choreography of Paul Taylor, Marius Petipa, Robert Moses, Kim Epifano, and Adrienne Clancy.

Aside from teaching at several studios, Dana has served as guest teacher and choreographer for high schools and colleges, including the University of Southern California. She has also been involved with dancing in films, on dance teams, at dance festivals, and benefit concerts. Dana completed a Vaganova ballet technique teaching seminar conducted by John White, Co-Director of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, who studied and trained with Soviet ballet masters while a member of Ballet Nacional de Cuba.

Dana is dedicated to helping her students learn as much as possible while maintaining a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
